CITB launches ‘Construction4Growth’ campaign
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has called on all those within the construction industry to have their say on the Government’s construction strategy by visiting www.construction4growth.co.uk and pledging their support.
Mark Farrar, chief executive of the CITB, said: “It was a decent Budget for construction and skills, but government and industry must continue to work together if we’re going to get Britain building again. The more who sign up to C4G the more influence and impact the campaign can have.
“Last year, David Cameron publicly endorsed C4G as a key tool in kick-starting the UK economy. And in the Budget, following a meeting with Skills Minister, Matt Hancock at 11 Downing Street and C4G partners, George Osborne echoed the Prime Minister’s support and made construction a priority.
“While the Chancellor’s Budget announcements are welcome, C4G partners believe that more can and should be done. More short to medium term investment in repair and maintenance of housing, roads and rail would reinvigorate the industry and is the best way to job creation returning 3,200 jobs for every £100 million spent, while the Green Deal, which has significant potential for our industry will live or die on the strength of Government’s support.
“C4G has demonstrated that it can deliver but now needs to develop and grow to move to the next level providing Government with a united front focussed on providing solutions that deliver results for the industry and the wider economy”.
