Ever wondered about the inspiration for ZT’s designs?
If you’ve ever wondered what the thinking behind ZT Safety Systems’ revolutionary designs are, wonder no more. In a recent interview in Construction Index, our chief executive, Gordon Leicester, who also heads up ZT Safety Systems, explains how the idea for the tried-and-tested design came to him while snoozing on a flight from Italy.
He realised that injuries and even deaths could be reduced by clever design. His idea was a harness that, rather than taking the weight at the groin, is instead connected to the legs. As the victim falls, the harness pulls the legs up arresting the fall while maintaining the circulation, thus preventing both impact trauma and suspension trauma.
He also told Construction Index that key to his thinking was a design actually gets worn every day, as it can be integrated into the user’s workwear, commenting “I wanted to design something that was comfortable to wear, that you would just put on in the morning when you started work.”
