F100 Photo competition - Steve Hines this month winner
The subject of this month’s F100 photo competition is a Pantel 29 Truck Mounted Access Platform displaying its considerable reach on Southend Seafront.
Steve Hines shot of the machine shows it being used to carry out routine maintenance on the LED chains that make up the media screens in the masts along the seafront. The work, commissioned by Southend Borough Council, was jointly carried out by Sill Lighting UK (for the promenade lighting), Architainment (LEDs) and Woodhouse (the built and installed the masts back in 2011).
The Pantel 29, which can be driven on a standard pre-1997 driving licence, was chosen for the job because of its height, reach and weight capacity meant the top of the masts could be easily accessed, but it was not so heavy that it would damage the tarmac of the promenade.
A high res of the image can be seen in our Access Platform Picture Library
