Facelift flashback: The Royal wedding
Six years ago, more than a million people lined the streets of London to cheer the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their wedding day. And Facelift was there to help get footage of the crowds via our platforms. We also found ourselves front of camera when another photography team snapped this picture of one of our 34 metre Brontos towering over the crowd. What a day that was!
We came armed with 34 metre and 61 metre platforms which were used at Canada Gate to be used for overhead filming of the festivities. As it’s never the done thing to make a spectacle of yourself at someone else’s wedding, we covered up our trademark yellow on our Bronto 34m with black net cladding to ensure we stayed discreet. The cage was mounted with three ‘Hot Head’ remote control camera’s to give coverage to Sky BSB News, BBC News and ITN News. Elsewhere, the 61m platform was fitted with satellite communication equipment, helicopter link-up devices and microphones to capture the atmosphere outside Buckingham Palace.
