Facelift flashback: We carry out crucial repair work at one of Cheltenham's oldest churches
Back in the autumn of 2014 the Facelift team once again played its part in helping to preserve the heritage of our nation, as we were called in to repair the roof of one of Cheltenham’s oldest churches.
St Philip and St James’ Church needed urgent repair work after the roof and stone works were damaged in winter storms which left the Grade II-listed building no longer wind or water tight. In fact, the damage to the church was so bad that English Heritage had been considering putting the historic church on their national ‘at risk’ register. And this damage was in addition to the urgent repair work identified by a routine five-year building inspection.
After £70,000 was raised in an appeal, the church called in the Facelift team, who assisted with replacing the rainwater system and carrying out stone work repairs in order to help ensure that many more generations to come could enjoy the church.
