Facelift provides the right vantage point for the Countryfile team
While the Facelift team are no strangers to being behind the camera, we find ourselves in front of it rather less often. However, it was our time to shine last month when we were commissioned by the BBC’s Countryfile to allow them to film West Sussex’s Wakehurst Place estate from above for a piece commemorating the infamous storm of October 1987.
On that fateful day – and despite Michael Fish’s reassurances – a great storm hit the UK leaving a trail of devastation in its path and tragically killing 18 people. As part of the programme remembering the events of that day, Countryfile presenter Ellie Harrison visited Wakehurst Place, a 500-acre estate which lost 20,000 trees as a result of the storm.
After interviewing the team that rebuilt and replanted Wakehurst’s collection, helping to turn it into the showcase for global conservation that it is today, she used Facelift’s Bronto 52m to see the estate’s impressive greenery from above. View the clip Countryfile
