Get ready for changes to statutory payments
From the 1 April 2018, there will be a rise in the statutory rates for maternity pay, paternity pay, shared parental pay and adoption pay, which will all rise from £140.98 per week to £145.18 per week, with the weekly rate for the first 6 weeks at 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings. Statutory sick pay (SSP) will also increase from £89.35 to £92.05.
Minimum wage rates will also increase from £7.50 to £7.83 for those aged 25 years and over, from £7.05 to £7.38 for those between 21 and 24, from £5.60 to £5.90 for those 18-20 and from £4.05 to £4.20 for those aged 16-17. Apprentices aged under 19 or in the first year of their apprenticeship will see their hourly wage increase from £3.50 to £3.70.
