Home improvement work on the cards for 2015, survey finds
More than half of the UK’s homeowners intend to invest in property improvements this year, according to a new survey from Ocean Finance.
They reported that 54% of householders hope to conduct home improvements of some kind, which could mean a welcome boost for the construction industry.
Discussing the report, Ian Williams, a spokesman for Ocean Finance, said that it remains costly for people to move between homes, despite recent reforms to the Stamp Duty system.
As a result, he added: “It’s no surprise that so many homeowners are looking to improve and in some cases extend their existing property.
“Creating more space is clearly a popular option, with 12% of home improvers saying this is their plan. It’s interesting to see that a leading motivation for this is family; whether that’s more children coming along or grown-up kids coming back.”
