Inside Birmingham's revamped New Street train station
Birmingham’s New Street station and Grand Central shopping centre has opened, after a £750 million make-over and a little help from Facelift.
The five-year project saw the demolition of the Stephenson Tower, along with the removal of 6,000 tonnes of concrete in order to increase the station's capacity.
Facelift hired out a number of machines to work on the job, including Niftylift’s H17 Hybrid and the 34m Bronto. The business will continue to provide equipment until Christmas.
Serving 170,000 passengers a day, New Street is the busiest station outside of London. This video from the BBC takes a look at the station ahead of its official opening.
