Firefighters deploy cherry picker and close Cornmarket Street, Oxford...to rescue a bird

A trapped bird sparked an emergency rescue mission in Oxford city last week. Firefighters cordoned off part of Cornmarket Street near Moss Bros and HSBC at the junction with Queen Street at about 5.50pm. A cherry picker was brought in and the cordon was set up surrounding it. Supermarket scissor thief

Two thieves were stranded in the early hours of the morning after they stole a scissor lift from a supermarket construction site in Birmingham, UK. The two men had apparently stolen the lift from a local supermarket and driven it down some distance, before they took it up to full height and then either ran out of fuel or battery charge, stranding them in freezing temperatures.
