Abrasive Wheels training course

According to HSE nearly half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels are due to an unsafe system of work or operator error. Any person who, as part of their working duties are involved in the inspection and use of abrasive wheels should have training for selection, mounting and safe handling of abrasive wheels in the following classes:
Type 1: Straight Sided Vitrified Wheels
Type 27: Reinforced depressed grinding centre wheels
Type 41: Reinforced straight sided cutting off wheels
Type 42: Reinforced depressed centre cutting off wheels

  • Characteristics of an abrasive wheel and the types of wheels
  • Marking of abrasive wheels
  • Speed
  • Hazards and precautions to be taken
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Storage and Handling
  • Inspection methods of testing for damage
  • Abrasive wheel machine components
  • Guarding
  • Dressing and Balancing
  • Specific mounting procedures

Delegates will be tested on the course content with a multiple choice theory test and a practical assessment. Successful candidates will be awarded with a Facelift Abrasive Wheels Training Certificate, which is valid for 3 years and is proof that they have received the proper training of abrasive wheels.

Courses take place at one of our training centres situated in Liverpool*, Birmingham, East London*, Hickstead (West Sussex) & Southampton. (*Indoor Training Centre). We can also carry out on site training when there is a minimum of 6 delegates attending the course.
